About Me
My name is Yifan Gao, and I am a curious creator exploring visual contrast and mixed media. With a background in graphic design, art& technology, and oil painting, I am always interested in combining digital and physical processes to create emotional resonance and explore the interaction between humans and machines.
I am currently studying Visual Communication Design and Art & Technology at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
I value the process of making. My creative logic often forms through the act of creation itself—moving from unclear ideas to clearer structures. I often start my projects without a complete concept, and this approach helps me break free from the fixed idea of a “finished piece.” It allows my work to remain open and responsive.
I believe that technology and design are not just tools, but forms of storytelling—bridges between the creator and the audience. My work always starts with one central question: when image, code, and emotion come together, can we build a new way to communicate? Whether through screens, websites, or physical materials, creation is my way of connecting with the world.
